These models are inspired by the brand’s classic cruisers but have liquid-cooled powertrains and many other technological enhancements.
What’s New for 2023
The 2023 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S arrives with no major changes other than new color options. The 2023 Harley-Davidson® Nightster® has been split into two models. The standard Nightster® is a bit more stripped down. The Nightster® Special offers more design options and comes with additional features, including a two-up seat, cruise control, ride modes and Bluetooth.
Ride Characteristics
Both the 2023 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S and 2023 Harley-Davidson® Nightster® are cruisers built with sport in mind. The riding position is forward, but the Nightster® has mid foot controls whereas the Sportster® S has forward foot controls and a lower seat height.
Performance
Another significant difference when comparing the 2023 Harley-Davidson® Nightster® vs 2023 Harley-Davidson® Sportster® S is the powertrain. The Nightster® is powered by the Revolution® Max 975. The Sportster® S is powered by the Revolution® Max 1250T. Both of these are liquid-cooled powertrains, but the 1250T delivers more torque and top-end speed.
Infotainment
The Sportster® S has a 4-inch color TFT with Bluetooth. Features are dictated by your phone’s capabilities. The Nightster® has a 4-inch analog display with segmented LCD. The Nightster® S is upgraded with the same equipment found on the Sportster® S.
Technologies
The Nightster® has ABS, TCS and drag-torque slip control. The Nightster® Special adds tire pressure monitoring. The Sportster® S has all of that in addition to wheel lift mitigation and various cornering-enhanced assist. Both the Sportster® S and Nightster® Special but not the standard Nightster® have ride modes: Sport, Road and Rain. The Sportster® S also have a fourth custom mode.
Customization
All of these models available at Tampa Bay Harley-Davidson® have a dark, modern finish, and Vivid Black is the standard paint scheme in all three cases. There are also premium options that add to the MSRP. The premium options for the Sportster® S are Bright Billiard Blue, Gray Haze and White Sand Pearl. The premium option for the Nightster® is Redline Red, and the Nightster® Special gives you the option of Black Denim, Bright Billiard Blue and Industrial Yellow.
