Low Rider® ST
The Low Rider® is a fixture with the Harley-Davidson® Cruiser family, and it was recently rejuvenated for the 2022 model year. These bikes differ from many of the other cruisers by really leaning into the sports sides of Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. The Low Rider® S, which is the entry point, got a more powerful engine and a slightly lifted rear suspension. The Low Rider® ST is quite similar but features a SoCal stance. This is achieved with the higher handlebars and differences in the frame-mounted fairing.
The Low Rider® El Diablo
The 2022 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® El Diablo is a special edition of the Low Rider® ST and, in fact, part of the Icons Collection. These are limited-edition motorcycles that pay homage to the bikes of the past that continue to inspire and influence the brand even today. If you’re considering a Low Rider® ST but want something a bit more unique, then the Low Rider® El Diablo certainly fits the bill.
The Heritage
The Low Rider® El Diablo pays homage to the FXRT Sport Glide, which is a motorcycle in the 1980s that was kind of the epitome of the West Coast cruiser during that era. It is an iconic motorcycle and one that has really only become more iconic with the passage of time. What is interesting here is that even the standard Low Rider® ST was clearly inspired by the FXRT Sport Glide, and this version really leans into it.
The Custom Design
Each Low Rider® El Diablo has a meticulous custom paint job that is completed by hand, which is among the reasons its so limited. There are three phases to the design. The initial phase involves an application of El Diablo Bright Red as a base. That base is then enhanced with a pass of Bright Red Sunglo. During the third and final phase, the pinstriping is applied along with touches of El Diablo Dark Red, which provide the aesthetic more depth.
The Limited Run
All of the Icons Collection motorcycle are limited to a small number. This one in particular is limited to 1,500, and each bike in the series has a plate that indicates its number. It’s something that definitely makes the Low Rider® El Diablo special, and it won’t be around for long.
Even More Compelling Reasons
There are a lot of other reasons to love the Low Rider® El Diablo, such as its Milwaukee-Eight® 117 engine. It has a fairing that is unique to this particular model and in a style favored by West Coast customizers. It also has a Rockford Fosgate setup that delivers the premium audio experience the El Diablo deserves.
