The Harley-Davidson® Cruiser family has eight distinct members for the 2023 model year, and two of the most popular of those options at Tampa Bay Harley-Davidson® are the 2023 Harley-Davidson® Fat Bob® 114 and 2023 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® 114. Both of these models are built on the Softail platform, but the Street Bob® is designed to deliver a traditional cruiser experience whereas the Fat Bob® is more performance oriented.
What’s New for 2023
The 2023 Harley-Davidson® Fat Bob® 114 and 2023 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® 114 arrive with only minor changes. The most notable updates are the new color options, which we discuss below.
Ride Characteristics
The most important thing to note when comparing the 2023 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® 114 vs 2023 Harley-Davidson® Fat Bob® 114 is that these motorcycles were designed to deliver different experiences. What they have in come is their engines and that they’re both bobbers. But the goal with the Street Bob® is to deliver a traditional cruiser experience. How it differs from the Softail Standard is with the bobbed aesthetic and the more powerful engine. The Fat Bob® is performance oriented. It has the fatter tires, a custom exhaust system and forward foot controls rather than mid controls.
Performance
The 2023 Harley-Davidson® Fat Bob® 114 and 2023 Harley-Davidson® Street Bob® 114 are both powered by the Milwaukee-Eight® 114 engine. The Milwaukee-Eight® 107 delivers fine performance for the typical cruiser, so this upgrade really makes these bikes feel beefier in comparison.
Infotainment
Neither of these models have an infotainment system. The Fat Bob® has a 4-inch analog tachometer with a digital speedometer. The Street Bob® has an LCD screen with a 2.14-inch viewable area.
Customization
Both the Street Bob® and Fat Bob® have a modern black finish, but the Fat Bob® design has more contrast as the exhaust has bronze- and aluminum-look aspects. Vivid Black is the default paint scheme. Redline Red is a premium color available in both cases. The Street Bob® also offers Industrial Yellow as a premium option, and the Fat Bob® offers Gray Haze. Both of these models have excellent support for personalization through the H-D® catalog, but the more stripped-down nature of the Street Bob® arguably means that it provides more potential for customization overall.
