Introducing the Low Rider® El Diablo
The FXRT Sport Glide was a project by Eric Buell that was available from 1983 to 1992. It became a motorcycle synonymous with the Southern California motorcycle scene in the 1980s. It became even more iconic in the years after its retirement, and for years now it has served as the inspiration for custom Low Rider®s. In celebration of that, Harley-Davidson® has introduced the 2022 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® El Diablo. As of now, this will not be a recurring model but rather one exclusive to the current model year and only available in a limited number. Once those units are gone, it’s gone forever.
Custom and Limited-Edition Style
The 2022 Harley-Davidson® Low Rider® El Diablo is unlike any other motorcycle in the Harley-Davidson® lineup for the 2022 model year. It is based on the 2022 Low Rider® ST, which is being mass-produced. But it has a paint scheme that is very reminiscent of the original FXRT Sport Glide. The base is El Diablo Bright Red. It then gets a second paint pass of Bright Red Sunglo. Finally, the pinstriping and layers of Diablo Dark Red and Dark Red Pearl are applied. You can’t get this style on any other motorcycle as it’s limited exclusively to the 1,500 units of the Low Rider® El Diablo that are being manufactured.
Ride Characteristics
The Low Rider® El Diablo is quite similar to the Low Rider® ST. But the frame-mounted fairing has been tweaked some to draw inspiration from the fairing used on the FXRT Sport Glide. It puts the rider in an upright riding position, has mid-mount foot controls and features saddlebags, which are also inspired by the saddlebags on the original FXRT Sport Glide. It has a lifted rear suspension, high handlebars and saddlebags that are both compact and removable, which makes it a perfect ride whatever your mood.
Performance
Harley-Davidson® refers to the combination of ride characteristics listed above as delivering an aggressive and performance-first posture. Of course, the Low Rider® El Diablo also features the Milwaukee-Eight® 117 V-Twin engine. This is an oil- and air-cooled engine that delivers 125 pound-feet of torque at 3500 RPM. It features a tune-heavy breather intake and a high-flow exhaust that maximizes performance, and Harley-Davidson® promises that you’ll feel the boost with every twist of the throttle.
Audio Powered by Rockford Fosgate
A high-performance motorcycle—particularly one that pays homage to the counterculture of the 1980s West Coast motorcycle scene—deserves a high-end audio experience, and that is exactly what you get. The Rockford Fosgate audio system is installed by the factory. It has been designed to fit perfectly within the fairing and to deliver outstanding performance. It features an intelligent and powerful amplifier with digital signal processing. You can stream the audio through a pair of integrated dual-way speakers, or you can connect to it via Bluetooth.
